BELGRADE (RS) - BINA 2012 takes place from 19 April to 4 May 2012 at several venues in Belgrade. BINA brings together a broad public and local and international professionals with the aim of generating a dialogue between the profession, the institutions and the general public, motivated by the idea that the exchange of experience and knowledge is a precondition for better city planning, architecture and quality of life. BINA recognizes that a balanced and cultivated exchange between the city and the people releases vital energy and that by harnessing this energy, solutions for improving the city may be found. Furthermore, it is this energy that nourishes the city and is necessary for its development. Accordingly, this year's theme is 'City Energy'.

While providing a platform for and cultivating the exchange of contemporary experiences and knowledge about the city, BINA 2012 also aims to empower people to participate critically and creatively in the improvement of the city.

BINA, an initiative of the Association of Belgrade Architects and the Belgrade Cultural Centre, features exhibitions, lectures, workshops and guided city tours. There are also workshops for students and children. The guided city tours range from the icons of modernism to underground Belgrade (e.g. tunnels dating from the 18th century). Programme highlights include the exhibition 'London 2012 Summer Olympic Games'. Exhibitions will run until 8 May 2012.
