HELSINKI (FI) - The coolest new building for architecture enthusiasts in the paradisaical Suomenlinna Fortress island group is C46, a modern public toilet, so tiny it could easily be overlooked. The architects Pekka and Bitumi Manner have created a noble and elegant rusty metal structure that is both functional and nice to look at. After a long, but rewarding walk around the fortifications and a visit to the information centre, where you can watch a high-quality multimedia show that gives a good idea of what Helsinki was like in earlier times, you might like to take the opportunity to powder your nose in C46.
