The focus of the sustainability strategy is on the hot water supply and heating. By deploying solar water heaters, water-saving taps and shower heads, materials like composites combined with fibres (flax, hemp, coconut, jute, synthetic resin), energy-efficient LED lighting and locally-sourced facade cladding like larch wood and tree trunks, the environmental impact of the buildings is up to 50% lower than that of conventional buildings. The ambition is to make the buildings (reception and meeting buildings, private and communal washrooms) fully recyclable and CO₂-neutral. In the coming years, 40 camp sites will be redeveloped on the model of this pilot project.
