LIBEREC (CZ) - A dominant feature of the landscape in northern Bohemia is the attractive silhouette of Hotel Ještěd, which sits atop the mountain of the same name at a height of 1012 metres. The structure, which is a combination of hotel, restaurant and television transmitter, was designed in 1963–1966 by Karel Hubáček of SIAL, together with structural engineers Zdeněk Patrman and Zdeněk Zachař, but the structure was not finished until 1973. The hi-tech effect is enhanced by the futuristic interior design by Otakar Binar and numerous works of art designed specifically for the various spaces in the tower.
